Mr. Baker graduated from Jenkins High School and later studied and spent much of his adult life in the funeral business. His work experiences demonstrated his love for pursuing this career, beginning with employment at Sexton-Hall and ending at Adams Funeral Home. Many in the community also remember him during his employment at Welsh Pawn Shop on Broughton Street.
At an early age, Mr. Baker joined First African Baptist Church of East Savannah where he continued to maintain his membership.
Cherishing his memories are his son, Lorenza Baker, Jr.; his father, Rev. Harold Baker; a loving companion of thirty plus years, Ms. Vera Fripp; three grandchildren, Makala, Sienna and Lorenza III; two nephews, Sean Baker of Hardeville, South Carolina and Harold Baker of Elizabeth, New Jersey and a brother-in-law, Greg Boone also of Elizabeth, New Jersey. Also left to cherish his memories are five uncles: Sylvester Baker (Greenville, GA), Thermus Baker (Ruby) of Ft. Washington, MD. and Leon Bryan (Linda) of Bonaire, GA.; six aunts: Marthella VanEllison (Savannah), Vivian Trigg (Dover, Delaware), Edna Andrews (Eastpoint, GA), Matilda B. Martin and Ola B. Lewis (Milburn) of Savannah, a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2018 at First African Baptist Church of East Savannah, 501 Treat Street, Savannah, GA., Rev. Thomas E. Williams, Eulogist. Interment: East Savannah Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home is in charge.
