Adams announces the passing of Mr. Johnnie "Baby" Collins, 74, who passed away on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Candler Hospital.

Savannah, GA- Mr. Johnnie “Baby” Collins transitioned to be with the Lord on Monday, December 31, 2018 at Candler Hospital.

He was born in Savannah, GA to the late Richard Harden and Mary Collins-Gamble on December 8, 1944. He attended Thompkins High School, in Woodsville. Mr. Johnnie worked for over 55 years as a master construction mason, in which he specialized in training new brick mason’s the trade of brick, block, and stone construction.  He retired from John Glover Construction where he assisted with negotiating construction contracts and managing work crews.  He loved spending time with family and friends, as well as enjoyed working on his race cars and drag racing as a pastime.  Mr. Collins is a devoting father and friend as well as being known as a “community dad” for those who sort fatherly love and advice.

Survivors include daughters, Tabathia Collins, Trickia Collins and Demisha (Mark) Johnson all of Savannah, GA and sons, Morgan Houston and Demond (Lakeisha) Coleman all of Savannah, GA; siblings, Velma (Walter) Williams of Miami, FL; Helen (Hardy) Jacobs and Ricky (Jessie) Gamble all of Savannah, GA; Marilyn Burnett of Atlanta, GA; Percy (Sheila) Harden of Tampa, FL; Lishus (Melvina) Gross, Ronald (Evelyn) Gross all of Savannah, GA; Michael (Yvette) Gross of Albany, GA; Leroy Gross of Cincinnati, OH and Teddy Harden of Killeen, TX;  one aunt: Ethel Hunter of Savannah, GA; one God-daughter: Little Diamond Pearl Singleton, eleven  grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.

Adams announces funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Collins which will be 12:00 P.M., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at First African Baptist Church of Woodville located 19 Alfred St.

Interment: Woodville Cemetery.
