Adams announces the passing of Mr. Jerome Edward Murchison, 72, who transitioned Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

Viewing: Friday, January 18, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm.

The funeral service will be held at St. Paul CME at 11:00 am on Saturday January 19, 2019.

Obituary:

Jerome Edward Murchison was born on October 2, 1946 in Savannah, Georgia to Leroy Quincy Murchison and Rosa Jenkins Murchison. He was baptized at an early age and attended the Public schools of Chatham County.

After high school, in 1965 Jerome moved to Brooklyn, New York. In 1975 he married the love of his life, Juanita Smith. To this union three beautiful daughters were born. Jerome adored his girls.

In 1983, Jerome and his family relocated to Savannah, Georgia. He became a longshoreman with the International Longshoremen’s Association, Local 1414 and diligently worked until his retirement in 2016.

Jerome enjoyed fishing as a hobby. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan. When it came down to competition, he was a champion chess player.

Jerome’s biggest joy was when his children were born. His daughters meant the world to him, and there was nothing he would not do for them. But, when his grandchildren were born, things changed - they stole his heart.

He was a proud and exceptional grandfather who loved his seven grandchildren with all his heart. Their granddaddy was always there to encourage and love on each of them.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Leroy Quincy Murchison and Mrs. Rosa Jenkins Murchison.

Jerome will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Jerome leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 43 years, Juanita Smith Murchison; one son, Michael Murchison of Las Vegas, NV; three loving daughters, Wahkeisha Kim Murchison, Audrey Fatima Murchison-Jackson (Melvin) and Jakeema Rose Murchison; seven grandchildren, Khoury, Sr., Ja’Kia, Jan’ya, Nykeim, Malik, Jamese, and Malaysia; one great-grandson, Khoury, Jr.; one sister, Ollie Mae Murchison; one brother, Benjamin Murchison and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
