Adams announces the passing of Mr. Gus Smith, 64, who transitioned on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Gus Smith entered into eternal rest peacefully at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, GA on October 3, 2019 while under hospice care. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Gus was born on June 23, 1955 to the late Samuel and Dorothy Johnson and was reared by the late Mannie and Lucile Smith. He graduated from Richard Arnold High School in 1973 and furthered his education at Savannah Vocational Technical School.
Gus is survived by his dear wife Cora Smith - Savannah, GA; three children and one son-in-law: Tanica S. Ferrell (Orlando) - Grayson, GA; Bakari R. Smith - Winston, GA and Kimberly N. Smith -Austell, GA; three grandchildren: Tamia A. Ferrell, Tamyra J. Ferrell and Tori N. Ferrell; one sister and two brothers: Shirley Brown - Savannah, GA; Samuel Johnson Jr. (Sheila) - Jamaica Queens, NY; Fred Johnson (Mary) - Miami, FL; one brother-in-law: Lenwood Page (Nonie) - Goose Creek, SC and one sister-in-law: Betty Anderson - Savannah, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters; Vivian Johnson and Gloria Johnson. Additionally, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a special long-time friend; Paul Roberts - Semmes, AL.
Adams announces the Funeral Services for Mr. Gus Smith, 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 12, 2019 at St. James A.M.E. Church, located at 632 East Broad Street.
Public Viewing: 10:00 A.M. – 6:00 P.M., Friday at the Funeral Home.
Interment: Greenwich Cemetery.
