Adams announces the passing of Mr. Freddie Patrick, 66, who transitioned on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at his residence.

HIS ADVENTURE

Freddie B. Patrick, Sr. entered this world on January 23, 1953. He was the adventurous son of Mr. Benjamin and Daisy Patrick and brother to Cornell Patrick and Linda Hollis who all proceeded him in death. Suddenly and without warning on January 14, 2020, Freddie left us and went home to be with The Lord Almighty whom he loves. With his “dash” being fulfilled and impeccably executed here on this earthly plane, his adventure has now been directed to serve as an Angel to watch over and guide us all from heaven.

Freddie was educated here in Savannah where he attended: Spencer Elementary and both Sol C. Johnson and Savannah High School. He proudly inform all who would listen of his dual membership as an AtomSmasher and Blue Jacket! He graduated as a Blue Jacket with honors in 1970. Raised by his mother and sisters after his father passed, Freddie spoke fondly of them as strict disciplinarians, “when it came to education”. Hence, Freddie grew up with a love for reading, the arts, sports, his siblings, his community and The Lord! Freddie taught Sunday school (“Mother Wise" and Second Ebenezer Baptist Church) at the age of 5 because he was already an avid reader. He stated, numerous times that his love for funny books and his sister Barbara (whom taught him how to play basketball) lead to many of his great adventures through books. His sister Linda gave him the Illiad and Odyssey and his search for new lands began. Freddie stated on several occasions that The “Village”, his loving community in Hitch Village (“Red” Larry Datts, Gerald, Black, Glover, Reggie) and The Crew on East Park Avenue helped to prepare him for his adventures beyond Park Avenue.

Freddie attended Armstrong State College, Wayne Community College (Associate of Applied Science/ Mental Health Technician, N.C., 1979) and Draughon’s Junior College, (Associate of Science in Business Administration, Management, 1985) and P.R./ Marketing and Management.  After entering the Armed Services,  Freddie served in The Air Force from 1973 to 1979 at which time he received his honorable service discharge as a Vietnam War Veteran. He was married to Ms. Jackie Patrick (Ex-wife) who gave him two outstanding sons, Freddie Patrick, Jr. and Benjamin Patrick who he LOVED unconditionally. Freddie instilled in them the same work ethics and drive for education as he himself received. Freddie worked for the State of Georgia in the Mental Health field holding many positions from Counselor at Open Doors (Ms. Janice and The Open Door girls” as he affectionately called them) to Asst. Director at Tidelands/Gateway Mental Health under former Director Thomas Broome and the late Susan Broome. Work seemed effortless because he loved his profession and people. If you asked him what was his GUIDING FORCE,  the response was always without wavering, "The LORD and The WAY (The Tao). If people treated other people the way they wanted to be treated, there would be no problems."

His departure leaves our family and community with a great void that will never be filled. During his Life, those he touched daily along his journey were blessed to receive “The Way” of life. He believed in the instructions of The Lord as he walked and demonstrated it always. “Give a man a Fish and he will eat that day but teach a man to Fish and he will eat a life time.” He has taught us to fish.

He leaves to remember his wonderful memories, antics and lesson , kindness, many acts of LOVE and unselfishness: His lifelong friend of 37 years Cynthia D. Kennedy; two sisters, Barbara Timbers of Savannah Ga., Rochelle Williams of Ft. Worth Texas; two sons, Freddie Patrick, Jr. (Dennise) of Peoria, Arizona; Benjamin Patrick of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Denitria Barnett of Atlanta, Ga; granddaughter, Saadiya Patrick, Chandler, Arizona; godson, David A. Jackson; nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and mentees who loved him dearly. We will always have him with us in our spirits. As long as we live, he lives with us.

Adams announces the Graveside Services for Mr. Freddie Patrick, Sr., 11:30 A.M., Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Magnolia Memorial Gardens.

The Memorial Service will be 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the W.W. Law Center , located at 900 E. Bolton Street
