Adams announces the passing of Mr. Francis Spellman, 80, who transitioned on Sunday, July 01, 2018 at his Residence.

Adams announces funeral services for Mr. Francis Spellman which will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 16, 2018 in The Adams Chapel.

Interment: Beaufort National Cemetery.

Mr. Francis Spellman was born unto Mr. Henry Homer Spellman and Mrs. Allfair Brabham, Spellman. They raised him in his home town; Olar, South Carolina, where he said, back then, people helped people just because they needed help.  They were always happy to help.  This small town of family, friends, and neighbors help raise Mr. Spellman to be the kind, caring, and sharing person he was known to be. Mr. Spellman became a dedicated United States soldier in 1955and an honorably discharged veteranof the United States Armyin 1958. He made history when he became one of the first black mento be employed as a Chatham Area Transit Bus Driver. He wrote a song called, ‘Bus Driving’ expressing an opportunity that he did not take lightly.  His career as a Bus Driver/ Supervisorlasted for 42 ½ years.  During that service he was Recognized by the United Wayfor being a Cheerful Giverfor over 35years.His hobbies included wood crafting, writingchapters of his unfinished novels, writing and professionally recording songs, singing, fishing, sightseeingand helping people to help themselves. He handcraftedwooden canes, staffs, and sticks as a hobby; then; gave them away as gifts.  His song entitled ‘I Need a True Love’was professionally recorded. He was a member of Word of Faith ChristianFamily Center;Pastor, Lee E. Wright, Sr. Mr. Spellman touched the hearts of many, until he came unto his final rest, on July 1, 2018, He leaves to cherish his memories, His former wife; Shirley M. Laster, his eldest daughters; Sonja Francis Cooper, Safari Beverly Ann Spellman, Andrea Denise Spencer, Lisa Scott, and Brittany Warnock. He helped raise many Children, Step-Children, and God-Children, that became members of his Extended Family through the years. He has one sister, Hattie M, Odom, Spellman, His Sister-in Law; Mildred Spellman cousins; Charlie Russell Brabham, Julia Brabham, Ruth Ella Miller, Joseph Miller, and Willie Edward. His sister-in Law; Mildred Spellman. He has a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family members, and friends.
