Enoch Douglas Mathis of Savannah, Ga. transitioned to eternal life on Wednesday, September, 30, 2020 at Memorial University Medical Center following a short illness. He was born to his parents, the late Warren and Mamie Davis Mathis on December 26, 1935 in Waynesboro, Ga. Enoch was the tenth of eleven children who all preceded him in death.
He graduated from Woodville-Tompkins High School and then attended Savannah State College, now University.
He married his friend and his love Yvonne Hooks in 1959. They became parents to Dr. Milton Mathis, Deidre Mathis, and Paul Mathis
Enoch was the owner of Superior Enterprises and was later employed as a salesman with Abercorn Toyota and Jim Walters Homes from which he retired in 1996.
He joined Bethel AME Church where he served as a steward and assistant Sunday School Superintendent. He was presently a member of St. Philip AME Church. Further, he was a long-time member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity and was a 32-degree Mason. He was the founder and first president of the Woodville-Tompkins Hall of the Entertainment Association and the first president of the Woodville-Tompkins Hall of Fame Association.
He leaves to cherish his memories are his children, Dr. Milton Mathis, Deidre Mathis, and Paul Mathis (Sabrina); his grandchildren, Christian Mathis, Chance Mathis, Alexander Mathis, Brianna Mathis, Arianna Mathis, his long- life friend Yvonne Mathis, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Viewing will be held from 12:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 9, 2020 at the funeral home via our drive-thru.
