Adams announces the passing of Mr. Eddie Lee Mattox, Sr., 66, who transitioned on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Eddie Lee Mattox was born January 6, 1954 to the late Mr. Joseph Devillers and Mrs. Carrie Mattox Devillers.
Eddie was a former member of New Light Outreach Church, where he served in various ministries of the church. Eddie very much loved the Lord. He always acknowledged him in everything he did, especially in his conversations. If you asked Eddie, how are you doing today? His response would ALWAYS be, “No Need to Complain”.
In the early years of his life he was blessed to meet and was united in holy matrimony to the late Marguarite Denise Brown for over 40 years (and) from this union four children were born.
He received his education in the public schools of Chatham County and graduated from Savannah High School in 1972. He was a former Property Manager for many housing complexes in Savannah and was well loved and respected by the many tenants he encountered. He was currently employed by Dan Vaden Chevrolet of Savannah.
He was preceded in death by his father, wife, and a daughter April Mattox.
Eddie leaves to cherish his loving memories two sons: Eddie Mattox Jr., Ashford Mattox, and daughter Ashley Mattox; Mother Mrs. Carrie Mattox Devillers; Uncle Mr. Otis Devillers Sr.; Brothers: Charles Ferguson, Jr. (Verna) of Los Angeles, CA; Herman Mattox (Lula), Joseph Mattox Sr., Cassius Devillers (Gwen), Oliver Burke; Sisters: Barbara M. Williams (Alfred); Marsha Mattox , Carolyn Devillers and Michelle Devillers; Sister-in-law Mrs. Margaret Champion, Grandchildren: Eddie Mattox III; Javion Murphy and April Denise Mattox; Goddaughters: India and Samaria Kinlaw; Nephews: Charles Champion Sr. (Tareka); Mario Champion (Tangie); Joseph Mattox Jr. (Carmen); Jamel Mattox (Rita); Ezon Harris and Dominique Harris, Steven Mack (Angie); Louis Mack (Cierra); Antonio Gordon, Niece: Britnie Copeland and a host of great nephew and nieces, cousins, other family members and friends.
