Adams announces the passing of Mr. Alban B. Clairmont, 76, who transitioned on Thursday,  February 28, 2019 at his Residence.

Adams announces funeral services of Mr. Alban Bede Clairmont which will be held 12:00 P.M., Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church located 501 S. Coastal Hwy Port Wentworth, GA 31407. Father Thomas Murphy, Pastor.

Interment: Catholic Cemetery.

Viewing: 12 P.M.-6 P.M., Wednesday at the funeral home.

OBITUARY

Alban Bede Clairmont was born in the town of Vieux-Fort, on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia on April 22, 1942.  He spent his young life there.  Alban graduated from high school, St. Mary’s College in St. Lucia.  He would then become a teacher at the Vieux-Fort Secondary School.  Early in his teaching career, he was awarded a scholarship which allowed him to attend Kent State University, in Ohio, where he earned a Certification in Teaching Diploma.

In August 1968, Alban moved to the island of St. Croix and his family followed after he settled.  Over the next 30 years on St. Croix, Alban worked for the Hess Oil Corporation where he rose to the position of Superintendent of Operations in Area 4.  After retiring, he would return to Hess Oil as an author of training manuals for new hired workers.  His final job was another position at Hess Oil as a consultant at the training school.  After retiring, Alban and his wife Mary moved to Port Wentworth in Georgia, right outside of Savannah.

Alban is survived by his wife Mary B. Clairmont (nee Jn. Baptiste) and his children: Corine G. Mills (David), William D. Clairmont (deceased), Heather Calhoun (Rodney), Marva Stephens (Roger), Allan Clairmont (Renetta), and Karen Clairmont.

Alban has several siblings: Marjorie, Josephine James (Harold), Dr. Albert Clairmont (Carol), Lynda, Undine, Bennett, Simon, Sylvester, Patricia, Elizabeth, Clinton, Andrew, Thalia, John, Linda and Sally.

Alban also spent time with his 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Alban passed away quietly at home with his beloved wife at his side, on February 28th2019.  He will be missed by his family and friends.
