OBITUARY:

Willie Tyson (Tyson) made his transition to God on July 19, 2015. Some people just knock on the door of lives while others remain in their lives. Tyson lived his life always wanting to help somebody. Sometimes, it would be just a kind word or a loving gesture that he would extend to others.
Tyson grew up in Savannah, Georgia. He is a graduate of A. E. Beach High School and Savannah State College (University). He furthered his education through graduate studies at Armstrong State College (University). Subsequently, his education was further enhanced in services given in the United States Army from 1966-1969.
His love and compassion for children were demonstrated in his work as a teacher at West Hardeeville High School and as an Education Advocate at Greenbriar Children's Center. His holistic approach to education empowered may children to achieve success in this global society.
Tyson's spirituality was reflective of Proverbs 3:5 ""Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding."" This belief was demonstrated by his service in various ministries in which he worked faithfully all of his life at the Saint John Baptist Church.
Tyson made his commitment to Doreatha almost 56 years ago, which included six years of dating. They were married December 24, 1966. This relationship of love is too deep to express. He is Doreatha's garden for life. His expressions of love for Doreatha were always in that garden with flowers, gifts, cards, words and selfless devotion. To this union there were no biological children; however, together they made a difference in the lives of thousands.
He leaves to celebrate his life, a loving wife, Doreatha; a sister, Paula Williams. Tyson adopted Doreatha's siblings as his own, a brother, Rev. Wilson Scott (Claudette); five sisters: Eleanor Redmond, Jacquelyn Sanders, Eunice Dingle (Henry), Delma Stell (Ralph), Cythnia Williams (Edward); a host of nieces and nephews to include: Darrien Redmond, Deidra Lee, Rheda Branch, William Sanders, Norman Matthews, Anthony Matthews, Kia Harrison, Rev. Leroy Pollen, Jr., Kurtina Pollen, Troy Pollen, Arrina Williams, Nickolas Williams, Latricia Jenkins and a host of cousins and loving friends.
