Tony Lamar Brown, 64, went home to be with the Lord on August 25, 2017. He was born on December 16, 1952 to Reginald Willis Brown and the late Dorothy Floyd Brown in Donaldsville, Georgia, the youngest brother of his five siblings. He was preceded in death by his mother: Dorothy Floyd Brown; Brothers: Reginald Brown II and Von Brown; Parental Grandparents: William and Helen Thompson Brown and Kenneth and Orita Lane Lenny.
Following his graduation from Alfred E. Beach High School in 1971 he enlisted in the United States Army with four years of service. Following his enlistment, he joined the Army National Guard. On December 18, 1976, he married his high school sweetheart, Gail G. Brown to whom he was blessed to have been married for 40 years. Subsequently, he began his career at the International Longshoreman’s Association, Local #1414, where he was employed as a custodial -maintenance staff member for thirty-two years. He was baptized in the Christian faith at the Historic First Bryan Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. Edward L. Ellis, Jr., serving with the usher’s ministry. Tony was an exceptional husband, father, son and family member. He expressed love and unselfish devotion through his acts of kindness and support. His legacy of strength, wisdom, and lasting family bonds will always be cherished. He leaves his legacy and memories: his wife Gail Grant-Brown and their children: Tony Leonard, Brandon, Jaudon (Savannah, Ga) and Landon (Charleston, SC) and Melissa Harris (Fred), Center villa, Ga. Brother: Donald Brown; Sisters: Charita Brown (Ivan) of Savannah, Ga and Geea C. (Timothy) Aiken of Kansas City, Missouri; Grand Children: Ean and Eathen Harris; Sister -In -Laws, Sharon D. Brown and Beverly Brown Furman both of Savannah, Ga.; One Uncle: Mr. Ben Floyd (Vera) of Savannah, GA; Two Aunts: Helen Brown Flowers of Bronx, NY and Juanita Grant of Savannah, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Viewing: Friday, September 1, 2017 from 10 A.M.-6 P.M. followed by visitation with the family, 6 P.M.-7 P.M., in The Adams Chapel.
Funeral service: 2 P.M., Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Historic First Bryan Baptist Church 575 W. Bryan St. Savannah, GA 31401.
Interment: Greenwich Cemetery with Military Honors.
