Mr. Roy Edward Thomas

Mr. Roy E. Thomas, 67, had his transition on Monday, March 4, 2013 at Candler Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral service for Mr. Roy E. Thomas will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday March 9, 2013 and Bethel AME Church.

Interment: Laurel Grove Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 7PM-8PM in the Adams Chapel.

Public viewing will be held on Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas will lie in serenity at the church beginning 9:00AM until the hour of service.


OBITUARY:

Roy Edward Thomas made his transition to the Lord on March 4, 2013, at Candler hospital in Savannah Georgia . Roy was born October 25, 1945 in Dublin , Georgia to the late John and Mae Bell Edmond Thomas. He attended the public schools of Dublin graduating from Oconee High School in 1963. Roy graduated from Savannah State College (University) where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science. He served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. Roy met and fell in love with Patricia Ann Grant and they married April 7, 1971. They share one daughter, Angela Thomas Wilson.

Roy was very active in the community. His affiliations include; Mu Phi Chapter Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Mutual Benevolent Society, American Legion, NAACP, former president and member of the Savannah Chapter Savannah State Alumni Association. He served on the Executive Board of Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club and the board of Savannah Business League.

Roy's entire career has been dedicated to the insurance business. He was employed at North Carolina Mutual Insurance and Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance. He ended his career as a self-employed agent at Thomas Insurance Agency.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother; Booker T. Thomas and sister, Fannie Mae Kemp.

Roy leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife; Patricia; daughter, Angela (Nathaniel) Wilson, a brother; John (Dora) Thomas, two grandchildren; Traneka and Nathaniel Wilson Jr., three great grands, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
