Mr. Roosevelt Young, 78, had his transition on Friday, September 12, 2014 in Baxley, GA.

Funeral Services for Mr. Roosevelt Young will be 10:30 A.M., Friday, September 19, 2014 at the Adams Chapel.


Interment: Beaufort National Cemetery.



OBITUARY:


Roosevelt Young, 78, entered into eternal peace on Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Appling Healthcare Center in Baxley, Georgia. He was born on January 21, 1936 in Savannah, GA. Mr. Young was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Arthur & Palestine Young; his brother Leroy & four sisters Marjorie, Fannie, Ruth, and Beulah.

From an early age, Mr. Young was no stranger to hard work. He served in the U.S. Army as a Combat Engineer, for a brief period during the Vietnam War. He later spent a long career as a salesman for Budweiser. At the age of 73, Mr. Young ended a 20+ year career working as a security guard.

Mr. Young was a caring, gentle, and devoted father. He spent the best years of his life caring for his family. As a parent, he led by example. He taught his children the value of generosity, forgiveness, and respect. Mr. Young had a warm sense of humor. He often shared inspiring stories, describing moments in history, periods of hardship, and triumph. A man of wisdom, he always had words of encouragement to help anyone in need.

He is survived by two sons: Marcus Young and Johnathan Young, four daughters: Sharon Young Fields, Joy Young-Dilworth, Coty Young Boyd (Cedric), and Anne Young-Tolbert(Matthew), one sister Mary, four nephews Mr. Paul Bush, Mr. Ronnie Sanders, Mr. Jerome Sanders, Mr. Jean Sanders, two nieces Mrs. Marjorie Moore and Ms. Palestine Cooper, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends. Mr. Young was a compassionate father and kindhearted friend. Affectionately known as ""Candy Bubba"" he will be sorely missed.
