Rodney joined Townsley Chapel A.M.E Church at an early age, and later joined St. Philip Monumental A.M.E Church, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Being from a military family, Rodney attended schools in Virginia, Ft. Knox, Kentucky, and Savannah. Rodney graduated from Groves High School in 1972, and began employment with Union Camp Corporation.

Because of his avid love, passion, and knowledge of cars, Rodney went on to work for several car dealerships in Savannah, including Dan Vaden, Saturn of Savannah, and Chatham Parkway Toyota. Rodney, affectionately known as ""Hot Rod"", was well known throughout Savannah for his expertise and wisdom as it related to automobiles. Family and friends always asked for his advice prior to purchasing a vehicle or having one repaired.

Rodney was also employed with Fed Ex and Daniel Defense throughout his working career.

Rodney was joined in holy matrimony on March 18, 2007 to his loving and devoted spouse, Patricia, also known as ""Pat"". They spent many wonderful years together, enjoying family, friends, sports, church, and other activities. Rodney was also an avid Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Braves fan.
