Mr. Robert Lee "Bobby" Adams

Mr. Robert Lee “Bobby” Adams, 69, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 17, 2017 at St. Joseph’s hospital surrounded by his devoted family.  Born in Savannah, Bobby grew up on Savannah’s eastside and attended the local public schools graduating in 1965 from Alfred E. Beach High School. 

He enlisted in the United States Army, serving a stint with the Fort Myers, Virginia Presidential Honor Guard Unit before returning to Savannah and completing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Savannah State College (now University). 

Professionally, Bobby began his career as a sports columnist for the Savannah Morning News and later served as Coordinator of the EOA’s Veteran’s Services program.  He spent 39 years of his professional career with CSX Railroad Transportation.

Savannah has benefitted from his many contributions to the community through his work with the Savannah, Gents, Inc, Thursday Morning Breakfast Club, Railroad Retirees Breakfast Club, the Sol C. Johnson Athletic Honors Court, the Alfred E. Beach National Alumni Association, Alfred E. Beach High Athletic Hall of Fame and the Sol C. Johnson High School Athletic Hall of Fame and was inducted in the latter two organizations in April and October 2013 respectively.

An affable, personable individual, he never met a stranger and always had a humorous word to share with others.

Bobby leaves a legacy of love with his devoted wife Juanita Jackson Adams; 5 children DeVonn Cape’, Katrina Adams-Kelly (Tremayne), K Lenard, Robert Courtney (all of Savannah) and Traci Jackson Campbell of Far Rockaway, NY); 8 Grands, 1 Great-grand, 2 Brothers, 2 Sisters, 4 Sisters-in-law, 1 Brother-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation:  Sunday, April 23, 2017 from 5:00-6:30pm at Macedonia Baptist Church- 508 East Jones Street. Funeral service:  Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11:00am at Second Arnold Baptist Church – 1427 East 37th Street.
