Obituary for Robert Lee Brown
Robert Lee Brown, 76, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Born on September 17, 1948, in Savannah, Georgia, Robert was the beloved son of the late Robert and Harriett Brown. He was the youngest of three children and was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Brown Sr., and his brother-in-law, Joe C. Johnson.
Robert attended school in Chatham County and, upon completion of his education, dedicated several years of service to the City of Savannah. He later joined Chatham Steel Company, where he built a lasting career and retired after more than two decades of hard work and commitment.
Robert is survived by his devoted sister, Doris Johnson, widow of the late Joe Johnson. He also leaves behind two loving sons, Robbie (Melvina) Williams of Monroe, NC, and Montevideo (Nikky) Sneed of Greenville, NC. His cherished grandchildren include Robert Rashon Andrew Williams (Monroe, NC), Nala Illiana Sneed (Greenville, NC), Robyn Rashona Andrea Williams (Greensboro, NC), Jade Gabrielle Williams (Savannah, GA), and Shimere Eboni Simmons (Clarksville, TN). Additionally, he was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Kaleb Settles, Kamron Simmons, and K'mani Simmons.
Robert's legacy continues through his nephews, Rodney (April) Johnson, Joe (Lavern) Johnson, Keith (Synthia) Johnson, Charles (Ammah) Brown Jr., and Demetrius (Denetra) Brown; his niece, Linda Johnson; as well as a host of grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will cherish his memory.
A man of faith and perseverance, Robert exemplified the words of 2 Timothy 4:7-8: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give on that day."
His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
