He joined East Savannah Church and was an active participant in the youth choir, in which he never sat still. Makhi fell in love with basketball at an early age. His fire was ignited when he lead his Southwest Middle School team to the finals winning them the Championship as the teams MVP. Later on that year Makhi was one of the recipients of the Savannah 8th Grade Athlete of the Year 2020 Dewitt Award. He kept his parents busy by joining several traveling AAU teams from a small child where he competed in multiple tournaments in various cities and states, with the Savannah Tigers, Ignites, Savannah Elite, and the Savannah Greyhounds under Cyrus Hunter. However, there was no bond stronger than the bond he had with his teammates and coaches when he was with team Future under Coach Clifton Butler.
