Adams announces the passing of Mr. Kirk Hamilton, 61, who transitioned Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Candler General Hospital.

Reflections of Life

Kirk Hamilton was born to the late Carrie Bell Hamilton and Author Holmes, JR on November 12, 1956 in Savannah, Georgia. He was educated in the Chatham County School System and a graduate of Savannah High School. He started with H&H of Savannah (Budweiser) where he retired in 1998 after 23 years of dedicated service. Kirk would later start with the Chatham County Park and Recreation Services, and retired in 2016 after 14 years of service.

Kirk married his high school sweetheart Shirley Knight in April 1977. To this union four children were born. They would spend 21 years together working hard to provide a home filled with love and strong family values to their children until the Lord called Shirley home to eternal rest in May 1998.

Affectionately known as the “Ol Man” to his grand kids Kirk could always be found with a smile and a good story to help pass the time. He was a sports fanatic watching NBA games and cheering on his beloved Atlanta Falcons Football team. Being a life long Savannahian, Kirk grew up in the Frank Callen Boys Club. He was active in alumni events and made donations regularly. 

Kirk accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and was then baptized at First Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia.

On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, a devoted father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and faithful friend was called home to be with the Lord. Although our eyes are filled with tears, and our hearts are broken, our faith remains strong knowing that our God is too wise to make mistakes. His wife, parents and one sister, Joyce Ann Hamilton, two brothers-in-law, John Knight, JR. and Kennedy Knight; and one sister-in-law, Sunny Hamilton preceded Kirk in death.

The legacy of his life and love will always remain with his loving and devoted family, which includes two daughters; LaQuanta N. Hamilton and Sherri Hamilton. Two Sons; Desmond Hamilton and Reginald Hamilton. Three Grand Children; Destinae Hamilton, Jaliyah Hamilton and Desmond Hamilton, JR. Two brothers; Benjamin Hamilton and Bernus Holmes. Two sister-in-laws; Annette Knight, and Denise (Myron, Sr.) Young. Three aunts; Mary Simmons, Cassie Gray and Velma Hamilton. Four uncles; Alvin Hamilton, Randy Hamilton, Nathaniel Holmes and James Holmes, and his Step Mother, Bertha Holmes. Five nieces, nine nephews, a host of cousins and friends.    

Adams announces the Funeral Services for Mr. Kirk Hamilton, 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 18, 2017 at First Mt. Sinai Baptist Church.

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery.
