Mr. Johnny Lee Johnson, Sr., fondly known as "JJ," passed away on October 12, 2024, at the Hospice of Savannah, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. JJ was born January 15, 1954, in Tallassee, Alabama and he lived a full life marked by service, family, and an unwavering spirit that touched all who knew him.

A proud member of the United States Army, JJ dedicated 21 years of his life as a small engine and diesel mechanic. His journey through the military saw him rise to the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC) E-7, becoming a sharpshooter early in his career. His commitment to his country and the values he stood for were evident in both his professional and personal life.

Throughout his life, JJ was not only a skilled mechanic but also a man of great empathy and wisdom. He was known for his good heart and willingness to help others. Family and friends fondly recall how he lightened any gathering with music, often cranking up his stereo to get everyone moving and enjoying themselves. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones, valuing every moment and memory created together.

JJ was a proud graduate of Washington Carver High School and maintained a keen interest in problem-solving, particularly when it came to mechanics. He found joy in working in his yard and often shared his love for music, bringing an infectious energy to those around him.

He is survived by his beloved family, including his daughter, Yohonce Tucker and her husband Vince; his son, Torrance Johnson and his wife Nikki; his daughter, Renita Johnson; and his son, Johnny Lee Johnson Jr. He is also survived by his sisters: Rosa May, Clara Blake, Dorothy, Carrie Johnson, and Barbara Ann.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Lou Johnson, and his siblings: Eddie B Carlisle, Emma Jean, Rebecca Ann, and Robert Johnson.

Mr. Johnny Lee Johnson, Sr. will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, his lively spirit, and the many lives he positively impacted throughout his remarkable journey. His legacy will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
