Mr. Jerry Rhett, III, 72, had his transition on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Candler General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Jerry Rhett, III, leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 34 years Barbara Colden Rhett and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Rhett, III, will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 15, 2016 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church located 114 Fair St. Rev. Banard N. Bryant, Pastor. Rev. Charlie B. Dillard, Eulogist.
Public viewing will be held from 10:00 A.M.-6:00 P.M., October 14, 2016 at the funeral home.

Jerry Rhett III, 72 of Savannah, Georgia, answered the voice of the Lord Tuesday, October 4, 2016 surrounded by his loving wife, family, and Pastor. Jerry is proceeded on death by both parents, Mr. Jerry Rhett, Jr. and Mrs. Sara Mae Lee Brown.
Jerry was born January 10, 1944 in Savannah, Georgia, the elder of seven siblings. He was educated and graduated from Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, despite the threat of a limb amputation from a severe auto accident. Jerry was accepted and served in the United States Air Force, where his tour led him overseas to England. Due to an injured arm, in 1979, he returned to the States and moved back to Savannah where he continued his education as a machinist and welder. He retired, after 25 years, from Hercules, Inc. as the Chief Chemical Operator in 2004.
In 1982, Jerry met his wife, Barbara, shortly after she moved to Savannah. They were married January 31, 1999 during Super Bowl XXXIII. Jerry was a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan.
Jerry was known by many names: Bobby by his family members, Boobie by his wife, The Bear, The King, Dad Poppa Bear, and Don King to which he answered to all.
Jerry believed in education and expanding one’s mind and he passed that belief on to his stepchildren, nieces, nephews, and all those whom he taught and mentored. Through this belief, Nurses, Pharmacists, Electricians, System Analysts, Dieticians, Hotel Managers and Accountants were birthed. Furthermore, Jerry believed in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and dedicated his service to the Lord when he joined New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in 2008, where he served faithfully until his health began to fail.
Jerry Rhett leaves a legacy of love and many precious memories with his wife, Barbara Rhett; his stepchildren, Shaun Pressley (Kym) of New Rochelle, NY; Sheree Pressley (James Cave) of Washington, DC; Rhona Pressley of Savannah, GA; special daughters: Laverne Leung of Charlotte, NC and Delores Yeldell of Savannah, GA; siblings Mary Frances Bennett, Arthur Lee Brown, Sr. of St. Petersburg, Fla; Jerry C. Rhett (Doris) of Coosawhatchie, SC; Molly Rhett Bright (Oliver); Helen Rhett Benson (Timothy); Hedy Rhett Frazier of Coosawhatchie, SC; Tracy Rhett of Charleston, SC; His uncles, Ernest Rhett (Eloise) of Coosawhatchie, SC and Joseph Lee of St. Petersburg, Fla; His aunts, Betty Rhett of Ridgeland, SC; Henrietta Rhett of San Jose, CA; Lou Alma Rhett Thomas of Coosawhatchie, SC; Shirley Berrian of St. Petersburg, Fl; and Mary Royal of Tampa, Fl.; 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews.
