Mr. James Gordon, Sr.

Adams announces the passing of Mr. James Gordon, 83, who transitioned on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at his residence.

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the Faith”. II Timothy 4:4-7

James Nathaniel Gordon, Sr. son of the late Jeffrey Gordon and Ruby Wesley Gordon, was born  May 29, 1934 in Estill, South Carolina. HE departed this life Thursday, December 28, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was baptized at an early age and served faithfully in the family church. He attended public schools in Estill, SC and Savannah, GA. He was a graduate of Woodville High School. He was united in Holy Matrimony to his late wife Edna Marie Rhodes Gordon of 40 years. Six children were born from this union.

He was employed and retired from GAF Corporation after 35 plus years of loyal service.

Brother Gordon was a faithful member of Townsley Chapel A.M.E. Church where he served several years on the Steward Board before his health declined.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Marie Rhodes Gordon and his stepmother, Florence Gordon.

Left to cherish his memory are children Pamela G. Montgomery (Dexter); Bishop James Nathaniel Gordon, Jr. (Susan); Karen G. Ross ( Nathaniel); Janice G. Moss; Denise Walker ( Alfonso); Maurice Gordon; siblings Jeff Gordon (Mary), Runell Gordon and Marie  Barnes; Brother –in-laws  John H. Rhodes and  Gary Rhodes ( Valerie); Sister –in –laws Flora Bruce and Cynthia Baker. A host of grandchildren, great grand children, nieces, nephews, cousin and other relatives and caring friends

Adams announces the Funeral Services for Mr. James Gordon, Sr., 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Townsley Chapel AME Church, 252 Eagle Street, Savannah, Georgia 31401

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery.
