On March 16, 1946, God blessed the world with the birth of Mr. James Edwards. He was a gift to Ms. Queenie Mae Edwards Jones and Mr. Louis Bryant, Sr. His mother and his grandmother Mrs. Josie Bell Smalls raised him in love and to fear God. He attended the public schools in Chatham County, where he was loved by his teachers and classmates. As a young man in Woodville, he and his best friend Mr. Richard Davis shared a special bond that lasted until his very last days.
As a young man, Pig always liked looking good and dressing sharp. It was once said that Pig, along with Richard Davis and Ben Floyd were mistaken for the ""Tempting Temptations"" while they were in Tallahassee, Florida. For years, James was employed by Dan Vaden Chevrolet. He enjoyed shining shoes and detailing cars in his spare time. He was one of the first and best car detailers in Savannah. In fact, people came from all over town just to have him clean their cars. Pig was a valuable member of the West Savannah Twelve and various social groups.
From two previous unions, he fathered a devoted son, Mr. Artemus Edwards and daughter Mrs. Latoria Bostic.
On November 10, 1987, he was joined in marriage to Ms. Adell English Bailey. They enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. In later years, he joined Fairlawn Baptist Church and sang in the choir for a short time and was a member of Fairlawn's Usher's Ministry until his health failed.
After a battle with cardiovascular disease, God allowed death to release him from pain and suffering. Under the care of Hospice Savannah, Mr. James ""Pig"" Edwards departed from this world on January 11, 2016 with the love of God in his heart.
Mr. James ""Pig"" Edwards is preceded in death by his mother Mrs. Queenie Mae Jones, his father Louis Bryant, Sr. and his sister Rosalyn McGert.
