Mr. Frederick Span Rivers

Mr. Frederick Span Rivers, 75, transitioned on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Candler Hospital.

Funeral service for Mr. Frederick Span Rivers will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church. Reverend Robert Chaney, Pastor.

Interment: Woodville Cemetery.

Mr. Rivers will lie in serenity at the church at 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service.




Obituary:

Fredrick ""Fred"" Span Rivers was born on July 20, 1938 in Augusta, Georgia to the late James and Christine Rivers. He was the sixth of seven children blessed to this union.
Fred was educated in the Augusta Public School System and moved to Savannah, GA where he spent most of his life. He trained as a shoemaker and welder at Savannah State (College) University and used those skills to provide a living for his family at Sea Pine and Great Dane. He retired after 20 years of working for the City of Savannah.
A Christian man of faith, Frederick dedicated the past 14 years strengthening his walk with God. He joined Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church and heightened his commitment to service. He actively participated in the following church organizations: Bible Study, Gospel Choir, Holy Name Society, Sons of Resurrection, and Human Concerns Committee.
On January 22, 2014, Frederick received and answered a call from God, who informed him that his new home in Heaven was ready for immediate occupancy.
He leaves to celebrate a blessed life... his son, Daryl (ArtLisa) K. Cone, Sr., Savannah, GA: stepson Raymond Bringham, Savannah, GA: four brothers, James (Dorothy) Rivers, Augusta, GA, Prince Joseph Rivers, New York, New York, Melvin ( Gertude) Rivers, New York, New York, and Andrew Rivers, Savannah, GA : four grandsons, Ricky Brigham, Austin, Texas, Randy Bringham, Jonathan Cone, and Daryl K. Cone, Jr , all of Savannah, GA : two granddaughters, Latrelle Bringham and Destinee Cone both of Savannah, GA as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
