Mr. Frank Samuel Maynor, Jr., 74, had his transition on Monday, January 2, 2016 in Concord, NC surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial Service with Military Honors for Mr. Frank Samuel Maynor, Jr. will be 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 9, 2017 at Overcoming By Faith Ministries, Pastor Ricky Temple Officiating.

OBITUARY:

The eldest of four children, Frank was born on November 2, 1942, to the late Mr. Frank Samuel Maynor Sr. and Mrs. Willie Mae Howard-Maynor. He was preceded in death by his youngest sibling, Ernest Eugene Maynor.

Frank attended the local Savannah-Chatham County schools and graduated from Alfred Ely Beach High School in 1961. Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served as an aircraft mechanic and completed three consecutive Western Pacific deployments, including Vietnam. Upon returning to Savannah, he was employed briefly by Union Camp. He was later employed by American Cyanamide (which was renamed Kemira, Kerr-McGee, and Tronox during his tenure). In 2005, Frank retired as Chlorination Control Room Operator, having worked a combined 30 years at the plant.

In 1986, Frank joined Overcoming by Faith, where he served in the Usher and Connecting Point Ministries for several years. In 1992, Frank’s dear friend, the late Deacon Robert Nelson, introduced him to fellow congregant Joan D.S. Green. Two years later, Frank and Joan were married on June 4, 1994.

Frank is survived by his wife of 22 years, Dr. Joan D. S. Maynor; a brother, William Henry Maynor and his wife, Virginia; a sister, Carolyn Maynor; a son, Perry Maynor; six step children: Jawara Green and his wife, Sarah; Jywanza Green; Fakita Storer; Harold Brinson and his wife, Angel of Jacksonville, N.C.;  Dara Brown and her husband, Anthony of Concord, N.C.; and Terry Bell and her husband, Lamonica of Douglasville, GA. Frank is fondly remembered by two sisters-in- law: Mary Simmons of Oak Ridge Tennessee and Rosa Simmons; 13 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
