Mr. David ""Pete"" Adams, 62, had his transition Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Saint Joseph's Hospital.
A native of Savannah, he attended the public schools of Chatham County and a 1966 graduate of Sophronia Tompkins High School where he was an outstanding baseball and basketball player. ""Pete"", as he was affectionately called, was a member of the 1965 All City Basketball Team. Also he played basketball for The Jets Basketball Team of Frank Callen Boys Club (now Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club) Coached by Walter ""49"" Simmons. He retired, with an Honorable Discharge, after serving his Country for twenty-three years. He also retired from the City of Savannah after working for many years in the Leisure Services. Mr. Adams was a member of Second Arnold Baptist Church.
Survivors: wife, Florence Bailey Adams of Savannah; children: Vanessa Adams of Indianapolis, Indiana, David Adams, II, and Nyrai Adams, both of Savannah; three grands; four sisters: Pauline Jackson of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Geneva Hester (Tommy), Barbara J. Polote (Chester), all of Savannah and Shirley Walker of Fort Lauderdale, FL; one brother, Albert Allison of Fort Lauderdale. FL; two aunts: Alice Kollock (Eddie) of Vineland, NJ, and Annie Lou Adams of Augusta, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special friend Johnnie Harris and family.
