Mr. Dana Foster, a spirited soul born on February 2, 1957, in the vibrant borough of Queens, New York, departed this life on December 18, 2024, in Pooler, Georgia. He was a multifaceted man, whose career as a line cook spanned various esteemed restaurants, where he brought flavor not only to dishes but also to the lives of those who experienced his culinary creations. His love for music was equally profound, particularly expressed through his passion for playing the drums, an instrument that resonated with his full-of-life personality.
Family and community were central to Dana’s existence. He was the proud father of seven sons: Sean Foster Sr, Jason Mclaurin, Davante Ramseur, Terrance Foster, Tyrone Foster Sr, Christian Foster, and Devon Foster. This legacy of fatherhood continued with daughter-in-laws Genesia, Stephanie, and Rose Foster, as well as an extensive lineage of grandchildren—including the cherished Katlyn, Kelsey, Zakari, Darren, Sean Jr, and many more—who looked up to him as a beacon of love and resilience. He was especially blessed to welcome great-grandchildren into his life, including Esme, Anaya, Mateo, and several others, all contributing to the rich tapestry of his family.
Dana's journey through life was not without its struggles. He faced challenges that tested his decision-making abilities, yet in his final days, he embraced a newfound humility, seeking to mend broken relationships and deepen bonds with those he cherished. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming an Ordained Deacon at the Zion White Bluff Missionary Baptist Church, where he offered spiritual guidance and became an integral part of his beloved community.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tameka Foster, as well as his granddaughter, Leilani Foster. The loss of these dear family members weighed heavily on his heart, yet he carried their memories with grace. Dana was also mourned by his parents, John C. Foster Jr. and Myrna L. Foster, who provided the roots from which he grew.
As we gather to honor his life, a series of services will take place at the Zion White Bluff Missionary Baptist Church located at 21 Lorwood Drive, Savannah, GA, on December 28, 2024. There will be a viewing from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a visitation with family at 10:00 AM, culminating in a Celebration of Life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Remembered fondly for his distinctive laugh and infectious enthusiasm, Mr. Dana Foster remains a cherished figure within the hearts of his family and friends. As music continues to play in their lives, so too will the sweet memories of a man who found joy in rhythm, reconciliation, and above all, love.
