Adams announces the passing of Mr. Charles Baker, Sr., 65 who transitioned on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Charles Baker, Sr., a man for all seasons, a family man, a church going man, a hard working man, and a neighborly man entered peacefully into eternal rest surrounded by his beloved family on Saturday, July 8, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Savannah, Georgia on July 10, 1951 to the loving parentage/union of Leroy Bernard Baker and Sadie Lloyd Baker. From a Christian standpoint, he was baptized at an early age and molded as a young man in St. Peter’s AME Church. He also sang in St. Peters AME Church Junior Choir.

Moreover, Charles graduated from Alfred Ely Beach High School in the Class of 1969 in Savannah, Georgia. He was affiliated with the A. E. Beach High School Baseball Team and the Auto Mechanics Group II.  He was known by his family and others as “Chis” and “Chuck”. After high school graduation, he worked at American Cyanamid & Chemical Corporation on President Street and the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Savannah, Georgia. Later on in life, he relocated to Jacksonville, Florida pursuing another calling in advancing his skills. 

In those sixty five years, it can be stated that he enjoyed a full life.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his children: Charles Baker, Jr.; April “Dionne” Harden of Savannah, GA; Omar Baker of Tampa, FL; brothers, Dennis Baker, Sr. (Delores) and Earl Baker, Sr. (Carolyn) of Charlotte, NC; sisters, Mary Alice Baker Lavant, Shirley Ann Baker Fair (Robert, Sr.)  of Savannah, Georgia; grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
