Mr. Ben Moore, Jr., 86, had his transition on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his loving family, under the professional care of Hospice Savannah.
Funeral Services for Mr. Ben Moore, Jr. will be 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Oakland Baptist Church, Reverend Jerry Wright, Pastor.
Viewing: Monday, April 8, 2013 from 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Visitation: Monday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Chapel.
Interment: Magnolia Memorial Gardens.
OBITUARY:
Ben Moore, Jr. was born to the late Ben Moore, Sr. and Queenie Davis Moore in Savannah, Georgia on February 12, 1927. Ben was educated in Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools. In 1945, Ben enlisted in the US Army where he served in Germany during World War II. In 1947, Ben returned to the Fort Dix Army Base where he was honorably discharged. After returning to Savannah that year, he met and then married Mary Reynolds (May 19, 1947). To this union four children were born. One son, Willie M. Moore, preceded him in death. Ben worked as a Longshoreman with the International Longshoreman Association Local 1414. In 1993, he retired after 39 years of service. He was a dedicated member of Oakland Missionary Baptist Church of Savannah where he served on the Usher Board until his health began to decline.
Ben leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Reynolds Moore; three daughters: Angeline Moore Lotson (Michael) of Savannah, GA, LaTonjua Moore Davis (Reginald) of Atlanta, GA, and Leticia Walker of Savannah, GA; one son, Ben Moore, III (Charlesetta) of Savannah, GA; a special grandson, Reginald L. Moore (Gwendolyn) of Savannah, GA, loving grandchildren: Brigitte Lotson Morrison of Atlanta, GA, Marcus K. Lotson (MarRonde) of Savannah, GA, LaTrese Elliott (Daniel) of Atlanta, GA, Keith Moore (Tanya) of Savannah, GA, Ben Moore, IV (Tiffany) of Savannah, GA, Brandi Moore of Savannah, GA, Quinlin Moore Battiste (Jermaine) of Savannah, GA, Reginald Davis of Atlanta, GA, Robin Davis of Atlanta, GA, and Regan Davis of Atlanta, GA, Rasheem Bryant of Savannah, GA, Kijanus Wright of Savannah, GA, and twelve great grands. Additionally, he leaves one sister Carrie Moore Roberts of Savannah, GA, one brother in law, Willie Reynolds of Savannah, GA, two sisters-in-law Dorothy Reynolds Harris of Toledo, OH and Retha Reynolds of Savannah, GA, and two devoted goddaughters, Adrienne Reynolds of Atlanta, GA and Kia Campbell of Atlanta, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.
