Minerva Hendry Wilcox

May 19, 1925 — October 13, 2008

Mrs. Minerva Hendry Wilcox, 83, had her transition Monday, October 13, 2008 under the excellent and professional care of Heritage Health Care of Savannah surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

Minerva, the eldest child of the late Brother Luke J. Hendry and Sister Birdie Mae Hendry, was born May 19, 1925. She was educated the Chatham County Public School System and attended Savannah State College, now Savannah State University. Reared in the United House of Prayer for All People, where she served as Mountain Maid for Bishop C. M. (Daddy) Grace, as an orginial member of the Grace Jubilairs Choir, the McCollough Determinettes, State Marching Band Booster and orginial Co-Founder of the McCollough Stewardress. She served dutifully under four House of Prayer Bishops until she succumbed to he declining health.

During her marriage to Eddie L. Wilcox, SR., two of her sons: Eddie L. Wilcox, JR., and Kenneth L. Wilcox, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories: two sons: B. LeRoy Wilcox and Elder C. Wilcox of Savannah, GA; brothers: Thomas Hendry, James S. Hendry, SR., both of Savannah, GA, Dennis C. Hendry of Jacksonville, FLA., and Artis Copeland of Laurleton, New York; sisters: Theodosia Hendry of Augusta, GA., and Harriet Singleton of Savannah, GA; one daughter-in-law, Joann Wilcox; seven Grands; eight great-grands; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, neighbors, and friends.

Funeral service: Saturday, October 18, 2008 at United House of Prayer for All People, 1805 Ogeechee Road, Savannah, GA. Public viewing: Friday, October 17, 2008 at Adams Funeral Services, Inc from 9:00am - 8:00pm. In state: 9:00am until hour of service. Interment: Woodville Cemetery, Roberts Street (West Savannah), in Savannah, GA.
