Melford Pinckney

Mr. Melford ""Biddy"" Pinckney, 86, had his transition Monday, December 8, 2008 under the excellent and professional care of Hospice Savannah, Inc in Savannah, Gerogia. surrounded by his loving and devoted family.

A native of Savannah, Georgia, ""Biddy"", as he was affectionately known, attended the Public Schools of Chatham County. He also graduated from Savannah Barber College. ""Biddy"" retired from Savannah Gas Company after more than thirty dedicated years Mr. Pinckney received an Honorable Discharge after served two tours of duty in the United States Army in Europe and the Philippine Islands. After returning to the states, he met his sweetheart, Pearl, and they married April, 1947.

Survivors: his loving and devoted wife of sixty-one years, Pearl Mack Pinckney of Savannah, Georgia; sons: Melford (Juanita) Pinckney, Jr. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Paul (Virginia) Pinckney of Gladstone, Missouri; daughters: Bernell Pinckney of Savannah, Georgia, Bernita Pinckney of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Lenora (William) Baggs of Savannah, Georgia; sister, Geneva West of Savannah, Georgia; eight grands: Lynnette, Shawnte', Markita (Nathan), Valveeta, Shautonja, Daniel, Aaron,and Weldon; one great-grand, Malasia; brother-in-law, Isaiah (Ina) Mack of Seattle, Washington; sister-in-law, Georgia Ann Pinckney of Savannah, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service: 1:00pm, Friday, December 12, 2008 at Adams Funeral Services, Inc Chapel, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31405. Public viewing: Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the Funeral Home from 12:00 noon-8:00pm. Mr. Pinckney will lie in state Friday, December 12th from 9:00am until hour of service. Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, Skidaway Road at 52nd Street, Savannah, Georgia, with full Military Honors.
