Margaret Bacon

Mrs. Margaret Bacon, 86, had her transition Monday, March 2, 2009 at Candler General Hospital, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.

Margaret L. Bacon was the daughter of the late James L. Young and Lilia Mae Bacon, born December 9, 1922 in Effingham County, where she attended the public schools. After school, she moved to Savannah, Georgia, where she worked and later moved to Midway, Georgia.

After being there for a number of years, she moved to Pembroke, Georgia. One June 3, 1951, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the later Ellis Milton Bacon.

She attended St. John AME Church until failing health prevented her from attending.

Her son, James L. Young, preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Sherrie Smokes of Savannah, Georgia; four grands: Lloydetta, Andrake, Morico and Tiavaris; eight great-grands; one sister-in-law, Ethel Williams of Syracuse, NY; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral service: 1:00pm, Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at St. John AME Church 251 Benton Street, Pembroke, Georgia, Rev. George Bush, Presiding/Eulogist.
Interment: Little Salem Cemetery, Groveland, Georgia
