Mrs. Mamie Dixon, 77, had her transition Monday, October 27, 2008 at her residence under the excellent and professional care of Hospice Savannah, Inc., surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
A native of Savannah, GA, she was educated in the Chatham County School System. Mamie retired from the Savannah Chatham County Board of Education after serving over thirty years dedicated years.
Mrs. Dixon was a faithful and dedicated member of Little Bryan Baptist Church uner the pastorate of Pastor Malvin L. Lloyd. Mrs. Dixon parents, Mr. Elijah Rhodan and Mrs. Annie Blige R. Bowen, her son, Leon G. Parrish, preceded her in death.
Survivors: children: John Rhodan, Sr., Leo Rhodan, Sr. (Veronica). Anita Parrish Thomas (John), Charles Parrish, Sr., Howard Parrish; seventeen grands; thirty-six great-grands; ten great-great-grands; two devoted nieces: Mary M. Hightower and Nora W. Rhodan (Jeff); on nephew, James Mitchell; several grand nieces, nephews, cousins, othe extended relatives, and caring friends.
Funeral service: 11:00am, Friday, Octoner 31, 2008 at Little Bryan Baptist Church, 509 East Gwinnett Street, Savannah, Rev. Marvin L. Lloyd, Pastor/Eulogist. Public viewing: Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 12:00 noon - 8:00pm at Adams Funeral Services, Inc, 510 Stephenson, Savannah, GA. Mrs. Dixon will lie in state Friday at the church from 9:00am until hour of service. Interment: Magnolia Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5530 Silk Hope Road, Savannah. GA.
