Leola Barnwell

January 1, 1927 — November 6, 2008

Mrs. Leola Barnwell, 81, the mother of Frances B. Pace, had her transition Thursday, November 6, 2008 at her residence.

In the year of our Lord, January 1, 1927, a beautiful baby girl was born to Minnie Lee Johnson and Eddie Wilson of Homestead, FL by the name of Leola. Both parents preceded her in death.

She attended Dade County Public School. She later relocated to Savannah, GA, fell in love and was united in Holy Matrimony to Sam Barnwell, who preceded her in death on May 13, 1999, after 50 years of togetherness. To this union they were blessed with a bay daughter by the name of Frances.

In 1957, she joined St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. Eugene Hagins. She sang in the Gospel Chorus.

Leola, a faithful wife, a loving and devoted mother, a caring and loving sister and friend transcended from this earthly life on November 6, 2008 to a peaceful sweet rest.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted daughter, Frances R. Pace of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Edna Lee Wilson of Miami, FL; two brothers: Mark Wilson and Gary Wilson, both of Miami, FL; granddaughter, Nicole Browne of Atlanta, GA; two great-grands: Jada and Justin Browne, both of Atlanta, GA; son-in-law, Garnell Pace of Atlanta, GA; grand son-in-law, Sidney Browne of Atlanta, GA; a surrogate daughter, Jess Brown of Savannah; stepson Willie Owens of Hilton Head Island, SC; stepdaughter, Juanita Rivers of Savannah, GA; a special nephew, Edward L.
