Henry D. Jefferson, Jr

Mr. Henry D. Jefferson, 80, had his transition Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Candler General Hospital.

""Jeff"" as he known to his family and friends, was a native of Savannah, GA but was raised in Philadelphia, PA, where he was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System.

During his young adult years he relocated to New York and was employed twenty-four years with the New York City Transit Authority. Following his retirement from the Transit Authority, he moved to Fort Valley, GA and later back to Savannah, GA.

He joined Mt. Carmel Methodist Church on Grove Point Road in Savannah, where he continued to be a member until GOD called him home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry D.,Jr. and Louise Jefferson; two brothers: Thomas and Richard.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, Angela Gilmer (James) of Philadelphia, PA; stepsons: Thomas Ross of Philadelphia, PA and Charles Seawright of Las Vega, Nev; stepdaughter, Bernadine Williams of Beverly, NJ; ten grandchildren; ten grea-grandchildren; sister, Louise M. Jefferson Dawkins of Savannah, GA; brother, Nathaniel Jefferson; aunt, Eva Grant of Savannah, GA; nieces, nephewa, cousins, friends, a very dear friend, confident,care giver Robert Cornish of Savannah; his life long childhood friends, Raymond Burns of Philadelphia, PA.

Funeral service: 11:00am, Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Davis Ark Baptist Church, 1220 Sherman Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405, Rev. Herman Woods, Pastor.

Mr. Jefferson will lie instate at 9:00am until hour of service at the church.

Interment: Oak Grove Cemetery, 52nd @ Skidaway Road, Savannah, GA 31404.
