Mrs. Flossie Frazier Rumph, 86, had her transition Friday, January 16, 2009 at her residence under the excellent and professional care of Hospice Savannah, Inc, surrounded by her loving and devoted family.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, she spent he childhood enjoying life in and around Savanah. She moved to Boston, MA for a better life. They settled in the Roxbury section of Boston, where she and her brother blossmed into wonderful adults.
She met husband, Leroy ""Rumphie"" Rumph, which produced two children, Vernite and Douglas. Flossie and Rumphie raised their children in the Harlem, New York.
Flossie worked at Bellevue Hospital in New York City for over thirty years before returning back to Savannah, Georgia in 1980, where she started a Day Care Center.
Flossie started studing the word of Jehovah in 1957. She was baptized in September 21, 1974 as one of the Jehovah Witnesses.
Her husband, Leroy ""Rumphie"" Rumph; parents, Hatie Johnson, Jack ""Bigshot"" Johnson; brothers, John R. Frazier, and Douglas Rumph, preceded her in death.
Survivors: daughter and son-in-law, Vernite and Randy Frazier-Raines; four grands: Timothy, Zain, Mark and Lamont; a host of great-grands, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11:00am, Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Jehovah's Witnesses South Congregation, 1046 Mohawk Street, Savannah, Georgia 31419, Brother Rodney Taylor, Officiant. Visitation: Wednesday, January 21, 2009 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm and public viewing 12:00 noon - 8:00pm, both at Adams Funeral Services, Inc, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Rumph will lie in state, the day of the service, from 9:00am until hour of service. Interment: Hillcrest Abbey West Cemetery, 1336 Dean Forest Road, Savannah, Georgia 31405.
