Mother Patricia Ann (Douglas) Duncan was born on March 5, 1950 in Climax, Ga.  She was the daughter of Randolph, Sr. and Maple Douglas.  She was raised in a God-fearing home with 6 brothers and 5 sisters, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Personal Savior at the tender age of 11 years old.

After graduating high school, she moved to Thomasville, GA where she attended Thomasville Technical School and later moved to Tallahassee, Florida where she worked as an Administrative Assistant at Florida A&M University.

She was always actively involved in church ministry and attended regular church services.  During a combined church fellowship in Thomasville, GA, she met Elder Charles Duncan at the age of 18.  Elder Duncan had been traveling from Atlanta to Thomasville for ministry. Shortly after meeting, Elder Duncan wrote a letter to Mother Duncan where he asked for her hand in marriage.  The two were married in Thomasville, Ga on November 15, 1969, almost 50 years ago.

After marrying, they were led to Atlanta, GA and joined Greater Refuge Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith under the pastorate of Apostle Frank S. Solomon. After being at Refuge Church in Atlanta for five years, and also working at Morehouse School of Medicine as an Administrative Assistance, the Lord spoke to Elder Duncan and told him to go to Savannah. GA.  Mother Duncan had never been to Savannah and did not know anyone there, but being obedient to God’s call, she left with her husband, and they moved to Savannah without having a job, a home or friends in 1974 with their two sons, Cosby and Steven.

While in Savannah, Mother and Elder Duncan started Bible Way Church where Mother Duncan worked diligently for the Lord.  Mother Duncan served as the local Missionary President and as the local Women’s Council President for Bible Way Church for close to two decades.

Mother Duncan was elected the State Women’s Council President. She was also elected as State President of the Missionary Department from 2005-2008 and was asked to serve an additional three years as President when her termed ended.  After being elected to the office of Missionary President, she participated in the first Hat Parade to remind Missionaries “Don’t Cast Aside Your Crown.”

As President, Mother Duncan helped Missionaries put forth their first Souvenir Journal to include Diocese Pastors and their wives.

Mother Duncan helped to launch the first Missionary newsletter called the “Spotlight” during her presidency and created, helped publish and was featured in the Northern Georgia Diocese Missionary Cookbook.  While serving Christ, being a wife and mother of 5 children, Mother Duncan still worked as the NAACP-Savanah Chapter Administrative Assistant for 14 years.

Mother Duncan is proceeded in death by her two brothers: Jerry Douglas and Wayman Chester Douglas, and three sisters: Mary Johnson, Mary Lawrence and Martha Richison.

Mother Duncan is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Elder Charles Duncan.  Five children: Cosby Duncan (Leslie), Steven Duncan (Abby), Patricia “Tricia” Duncan, Benjamin Duncan (Nicole), Joseph Duncan (Aundra).  Six grandchildren: Derrick, Ayanna, Joshua, Lailani, Jeremiah and Savannah.
