Elder Edward Moultrie, Jr., 81, had his transition on March 23, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services for Elder Edward Moultrie, Jr. will be held 11:00AM, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at First African Baptist Church of East Savannah located 402 Treat St.
Interment: Lincoln Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors.
Elder Moultrie will lie in serenity at the church beginning 9:00AM at the church.
Public viewing will be held from 10:00AM-6:00PM, Friday March 28, 2014 at the funeral home.
OBITUARY:
Savannah – Elder Edward Moultrie Jr., 81 had his transition on March 23, 2014 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Born on May 2, 1932 in Savannah, Georgia. He was the son of the late Edward Moultrie Sr., Hattie Moultrie Cohen and Joe Cohen. He attended the Savannah Chatham County Schools, Penn Normal Industrial and Agricultural School and graduated from Robert Smalls High School in Beaufort, S.C. He attended Savannah State College (now Savannah State University).
He served his military duty in the United States Air Force in the Korean Conflict as Load/Drop Master from 1952 to 1957. He became a self-employed Master Plumber from 1966 to 2014. He was among the first five black Master Plumbers in Savannah, Georgia. He was baptized at an early age and became a member of First African Baptist Church of East Savannah. He became an ordained Minister and served faithfully at New Testament Missionary Outreach Ministry and later became a member of Gospel Light of the World Ministry under Pastor Elder Nathaniel Hester. He continued to work faithfully in the ministry. He was also a member of the Brotherhood Ministry.
In 1959, he married his college sweetheart, Edith White Moultrie, his devoted wife for 54 years. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Edith White Moultrie; three sons Edward M. Moultrie Sr. (Sheila) of Savannah, GA, Eric M. Moultrie (Mary); Elton M. Moultrie (Charlene) both of Fairburn, GA. Three granddaughters; Bryanna, Erika, and Lauryn. Five grandsons, Edward M. II, Brandon, Joshua, Marcus, and Micah Moultrie. One Brother, William Moultrie of Savannah, GA. Two special first cousins Benjamin Moultrie III and Vernelle M. (Roosevelt) Coleman. A special nephew Terell Moultrie. Three Godchildren, two brothers-in-law and 5 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
