Dr. Edwin Lee Slaughter, 55, had his transition Friday, October 17, 2008 at his residence.
A native of Washington, DC, in 1979 he graduated from Howard University with a BS in Zoology and in 1982, received a Doctor Degree in Veterinary Medicine from Tuskeegee Institute. Dr. Slaughter was employed by the White Bluff Veterinary Clinic in Savannah, GA. He was a member of St Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church,
Survivors: a daughter, Nadia S. Slaughter of Savannah; Devita Myrick Slaughter, Willie Mae Myrick, both of Savannah, GA, James Myrick (Karen), Aubrey Myrick, all of Atlanta, GA, Glen Myrick (Rhonda) of Savannah, GA, Antione Myrick, Gregory Myrick (Kendra), all of Atlanta, GA, Bernitha Patterson (Anthony) of Savannah, GA Antionette Boyer (Linden) of Germany; three aunts: Elise Oliver of West Medford, Mass, Doris Norman of Concord, Mass, and Lucille Richards of Houston, TX; cousin, Cornell Griffin of West Medford, Mass; a host of loving friends.
Funeral service: 11:00am. Saturday, October 25, 2008 at St. Philip Monumental AME Church, 1112 Jefferson Street (at West Park Avenue), Savannah, GA. Public viewing: Friday, October 24, 2008 at Adams Funeral Services, Inc., 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, GA 31405 from 9:00am - 8:00pm at the funeral home. Dr. Slaughter will lie in state at the church from 9:00am until hour of service. Interment: Woodville Cemetery, Roberts Street (West Savannah), Savannah, GA.
Cortege will leave from 1926 Champion Street, (Liberty City), Savannah, GA at 10:15am.
