Dorothy Marie Chalmers

Mrs. Dorothy M. Chalmers, 68, the wife of Dan Chalmers, had her transition, Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Saint Joseph's Hospital.

A native of Savannah, GA, she was educated in the Catholic School
system of Chatham County. She retired from Chatham County Board of Education after fifteen years of service.

At an early age, she joined St. Anthony's Catholic Church (now Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church). She later moved her membership to Pilgrim Baptist Church of Levy, South Carolina. Mrs. Chalmers was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Earl Hamilton and her daughter, Renee Patton.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Dan Chalmers of Hardeeville, South Carolina; children: Ronald Patton of Savannah, Georgia, Rowens Patton-Coleman (Kent) of Atlanta, Georgia, Rodney Patton (Marlene) of Miami, Florida, Regina Patton, Remoin Patton, Russell Patton, Rhonda Patton, all of Atlanta, Georgia, Rozena Chalmers and step-son Herman Heyward (Olga), both of Hardeeville, South Carolina; sisters: Leomie Polote (Willie) of Savannah, Georgia, Gloria Hamilton of Brooklyn, New York, and Sharon Farley (William) of Austell, Georgia; twenty-three grands; fourteen great-grands, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service: 1:00pm Saturday, November 29, 2008 at Adams Funeral Services, Inc Chapel, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia 31405. Public viewing: Friday, November 28, 2008 at the funeral home. Mrs. Chalmers will lie in state at the funeral home chapel, Saturday, November 29, 2008 from 9:00am until hour of service. Interment: Hillcrest Abbey - West
