Public Viewing: 12:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 13, 2020 at the funeral home.
On the morning of June 9, 2020, Dea. Gregory T. Hagins of Savannah, GA left for his heavenly home. He slipped away quietly and peacefully during the early morning hours at the age of 62. Greg was born to the late Dea. Frank & Charlie Mae Hagins in February 1958. He received his education in the Chatham County Public Schools, having attended Butler Elem. and graduated from Richard Arnold High School Class of 1976. He played football in high school as an offensive lineman and was passionate about basketball on the courts. As an older man, he developed a passion for golf.
He went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a Transportation Specialist and received an Honorable Discharge in 1982. Greg epitomized the entrepreneurial spirt and was an ambitious businessman. He was fearless when it came to new challenges. Greg was an avid reader, and though he attended business school after his military service, he was self-taught in many ways. Though he was large in stature, he had a gentleness about him. He was loving, giving and fiercely protective of his family. He also cared about his community. Greg had many principles by which he lived. One in particular was “I can live better with my decisions than I can with yours”. Greg gave his life to Christ early in his journey and was a firm believer in God. When asked what would he say to others on the subject of the bible, his response was simple … “God is Good”!
In 1999, he married Dr. Debbie Phoenix and between them loved three wonderful children: Samone Hagins, Adam Davis (Kacy), and Dionna Davis. Preceding him in death are his siblings Henry Frank Hagins, Jr, Loretta Miller, and Charles G. Hagins. In addition to his wife and children, he leaves to hold dear his memories, one grandchild Kaley Davis, siblings Pamela Butts & Harold K. Hagins (Debbie), in-laws Edward Miller, Marshall Hagins, James & Cassandra Washington, William & Nicole Phoenix, Sheila Phoenix, W. Elloridge Phoenix, mother-in-law Delores Mack, 16 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and, truckers, & friends.
