OBITUARY:
On May 4, 1914 God blessed the late Caesar and Florence Williams with their 7th child and youngest son, Andrew Williams.
Dea. Andrew Williams, also known as ""The Young Man"", was born in Grays Hill, SC. All of his siblings have preceded him in death.
After the death of his father, when he was 18, Dea. Williams moved to Savannah with his sisters, Lizzie and Henrietta. He also lived in Augusta, Miami, Jacksonville and New York. He was a construction worker until his employment as a longshoreman. His friend, the late Dea. Cain Smalls, helped him until he received his ""card"". He was called ""Andy"" and was able to quickly grasp the concepts of any job he was given to perform. Dea. Williams always had an independent spirit and a steadfast trust in God. Dea. Williams retired in June 1976 and God blessed him to enjoy over 36 years of retirement!
Dea. Williams often spoke of his conversion experience at the age of 22. His personal experience with God led him to walk to a deacon's home in the middle of night to advise him of his acceptance of Jesus Christ. They both went to Rev. Henderson's home that night to tell him of his acceptance of Christ. He was baptized and remained a faithful and financial member of the Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, now New Beginnings Baptist Church. Dea. Williams served on the Usher Board and was the Chief Usher for a number of years. He, with Dea. Frank Mack, was ordained as a deacon at Pilgrim Baptist Church on April 29, 1957 under the pastorate of Rev. D. D. Henderson .
Dea. Andrew Williams will always be remembered for his abiding faith in God and his love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Janie Moultrie Williams, two daughters, Wilhelmenia Williams Witter and Leotias Williams Davis and one granddaughter, Shante' Williams.
Dea. Williams' legacy, love and memories will be cherished by his children, Delores Middleton, Carolyn Williams Trimble, Janie L. Williams, Shagari (Donna) Williams and Melvin (Tracy) Kelsey; 29 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren 20 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; The Moultrie Family and special friends Jack and Lessie Mae Owens.
