Deacon Washington Brown, 78, was called from labor to reward on October 13, 2015. He was born on February 16, 1937 to the late Washington and Anna Lee Brown in Newington, Georgia. He attended the public schools of Screven County and later matriculated at Savannah Technical College.
His military career began in 1955. His active services included 20 years in the United States Navy, Navy Reserve, Air Force and Army Reserve.
Washington joined Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was ordained a deacon serving faithfully until his health began to fail.
Deacon Washington, affectionately known as ""Pops"" ""Old Man"" and ""Slick"" leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Thomas (Peggy) Brown (Manassas, Virginia), Chester Fields, and Kenney (Erika) Bartley; one daughter, Glynis (Harry) Thompson; grandchildren, Moneta Brown, Jurell Brown, Thomas Brown, Tasheena Rondeau, Isaiah Fields, Thowana Johnson; one great grandson, DeAndre Brown; one God Daughter, Lora Scott; one God son, Shawn Scott, a special cousin, James Grant, a special friend Lilly Moore, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 18, 2015 from 5:00PM - 7PM at Adams Funeral Chapel. The funeral Services will be Monday, October 19, 2015 at 11:00AM at Second Saint John's Baptist Church located 1323 Golden Street, Pastor Marque Johnson officiating.
