OBITUARY:
Today, we celebrate the life of Kenneth Melvin Greene, known by all as ""Geech."" Geech was born April 10, 1942 in Charleston, SC, as the youngest of 11 children to Lucius and Josephine Greene. Following high school, he studied masonry at Denmark Technical College, SC, earning a degree prior to his enlistment in 1965 and immediate deployment to Vietnam serving with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit as a Rifleman, earning the grade of Sergeant First Class. Sergeant Greene was awarded two purple hearts for severe injuries obtained in battle that almost ended his life prior to forced medical retirement in November 1967.

Majoring in Industrial Arts, Geech earned his Bachelors degree in 1971 from Savannah State College, while pledging Kappa Alpha Psi and marrying the love of his life, Prophetess Gwendolyn Greene. In the decades to follow, Geech completed hundreds of construction projects including many in Historic Downtown Savannah and several Hilton Head Island endeavors. As a high school athletic official, he called local football and basketball games from 1967 to 1987. In addition, Geech taught Industrial Arts and coached football between Savannah High, Tompkins and Groves during the 70s and early 80s.

Most importantly, Geech loved his church and was a faithful Apostle and servant at Gospel Truth Ministries in Ellabell, GA, ministering both there and in Africa. He is survived by his wife, Prophetess Gwendolyn Greene, and was a devoted father to four sons and two daughters. He also leaves behind four grandchildren and one great grand child. We honor his life and celebrate his departure to be with God through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
