Mr. Aaron Izell Jackson, Sr., 76, had his transition Monday, January 5, 2009 at his residence under the excellent and professional care of Hospice Savannah, Inc. surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
A native a Clyo, Georgia, he attended the public schools of Chatham County, including Cuyler Beach High School. After graduating from High School, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in Alaska in the Korean Conflict.
At an early age, he became a member of Bethel AME Church. After a long career at Belk's Department Store, he retired. Currently he was employed at Savannah State University, where he left due to failing health. His parents: Phillip Jackson, Sr. and Pearlie Busby Jackson, thirteen siblings, and a grand, Richardean Hicks, preceded him in death.
Survivors: a loving and devoted wife of fifty-three years, Josephine Jackson; two sons: Aaron Izell Jackson, Jr. and his wife Tina and Frederick Nathaniel Jackson; four daughters: Darlene Anita Jackson, Avis L. Jackson, Sabrina Jackson Terry (James) and Sandra Jackson Varner; sister, Pearl Jackson; brother, William Burke, Sr.; sister-in-law, Beatrice Pinkney (Frank); two brothers-in-law: Nathaniel ""Bubba"" Ford and Rev. Dr. Herbert Garlin Ford, Se. (Margaret)special cousin, Zack Johnson; a special nephew, James Leroy ""Bubba"" Garvin, Jr.; thirteen grands; three great-grands; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service: 1:00pm, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Adams Funeral Services Inc., Chapel, 510 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah, Georgia. Public viewing: Friday, January 9, 2009 at the funeral home. Mr. Jackson will lie in state the day of the service from 9:00am until hour of service at the funeral home. Interment: Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
