Mr. Rodney Steele, 37, the son of Mrs. Della Steele, had his transition Saturday, January 10, 2009, under the excellent and professional care at Hospice Savannah, Inc, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
A native of Savannah, Georgia, he was educated in the Chatham County School System and graduated from Robert W. Grove High School in 1989, where he enjoyed football, band, ROTC, senior Chorus and various other extracurricular activities. Rodney matriculated to Savannah State University and received his
Bachelors Degree in Business Management in 1994. He also was a member of Delta Sigma Pi, a Business Fraternity.
Rodney was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1994, but continued to be an inspiration to all he encountered until his transition. Although the disease limited his physical abilities, it was no match for Rodney. Rodney kept himself busy, writing two children books:
Learning My ABC's and Shapes and Colors. In the Midst of all he experienced, Rodney was known to say, ""P It's part of life, deal with it!""
Rodney leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted mother, Della Mae Childs Steele; three brothers: Glenn (LaTisa) Steele, Anthony (Nicolette Johnson) Steele and Warren Sweet; six aunts: Rosa Marie Duffin, Robbie Ruth Morgan, Marthella Bryant, Mattie Childs, Dorothy Childs, Victoria Steele and Florence Childs; two uncles: Preste Childs and James Steele, Sr.; one nephew, Glenn Steele, Jr.; three nieces: Ivory Alexis Steele, Zaria Alexis Steele and Allison McCray; special friend, Latisha McBride; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
